Professor Alita Nandi

Alita is a Professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER). She is a quantitative social scientist and conduct empirical research primarily in the areas of ethnicity and gender, specifically investigating differences in subjective wellbeing (e.g., life satisfaction, mental health) as well as economic wellbeing (e.g., income, wages). She is also interested in the causes and consequences of harassment and discrimination, formation, measurement and impact of identity on life outcomes and, measurement of institutional characteristics in developing countries and exploring their effects.

Alita is the Associate Director (Outreach) and co-Investigator for Understanding Society and oversee the study’s user support and training activities. She has also contributed to the study’s Ethnicity Strand, questionnaire design and data management activities.
