Jasmine is a research student at ISER, part of the Soc-B Centre for Doctoral Training. Her PhD research uses metagenomics data from the Lifelines biobank and Understanding Society to investigate how socioeconomic factors shape the gut microbiome, and how these differences may contribute to inequalities in mental health and systemic inflammation. Her work also examines how BMI and health behaviours, such as diet, smoking, and alcohol consumption, shape this association, and how the gut microbiome is linked to SEP across different life stages.
